Interviewing a Fellow Chicagoan
Interview With Alex Katres
I have been given the opportunity to interview one of my life-long friends, Alex Katres. Alex, originating from Greece, grew up in the Chicago-land area almost his whole life. This individual is the biggest Bulls fan I have ever met as he loves the electricity in the arena. The questions I am asking are in bold text as his responses are quoted under.
Why do you enjoy being in Chicago?
"I enjoy being in the city because you get to see different social classes all in one big area. You also get to take a look at all of the different backgrounds of everyone walking by. It seems that everyone is working towards a common goal on keeping the positive atmosphere alive."
How do you feel about the Chicago Bulls?
"Just got in trouble for benching their starters when the commissioner knew that the team was healthy. They are definitely trying to tank the rest of this season. They traded Niko Mirotic to the Pelicans for a first round pick which I am excited about. All in all, the Bulls look nice because they are building their youth. I give them two years and they will be back at the top"
Do you think they will make the play-offs next year?
"For sure they will. They will get back to the winning culture starting next year. I believe they will have the third or fourth spot in the Eastern Conference. Their youth seem to be developed as well as everyone is healthy on the roster. If it stays like that, they will have the opportunity to do some damage in the conference. They also have two first round picks in the 2018 draft which will have a huge impact to improve the team."
If you could recommend tourists to visit one spot in Chicago, what would it be and why?
"It really depends on who that person is. If they are a sports fan, I would recommend Wrigley Field because of how notorious the park is. There is also tons of traditions that anyone can be apart of. For non-sports fans, I would recommend checking out the skydeck at the Willis Tower. It is one of the tallest buildings in the world with a wonderful view!"
I only had the opportunity to ask him a few questions as he was busy with his job at Amazon.com. But overall, it is pretty clear that most Chicagoans have the same perspectives about various things in the city. It is pretty uncommon for a Chicagoan not to know the culture of the city and the vibe of the environment. I can not stress enough how important it is that you visit Chicago at least once in your life! Oh, and Alex agrees too!!
