I wanted to make sure that I give you my suggestion on two edible items to try when visiting Chicago! (Not including the obvious Chicago-style dog)  These two amazing food items are known as some of the most infamous foods to try in the city.  Are you prepared to hear what they are...? Lou Malnati's Pizza

Lou Malnati’s is one of the most known pizza spots in the City.  The founder, Lou Malnati, started his deep dish career in the 1940s.  After working in the pizza industry for some time, he was inclined to start a deep dish joint as his own known as ‘Lou Malnatis’.  His wife and he opened this restaurant on March 17, 1971.  Lou was known to love all types of people.  On the company’s website, it is stated that, “Lou always thought it was funny that an Italian should open a pizzeria in a Jewish neighborhood on an Irish holiday.”  This goes to show that he had a very loyal-diverse following.  People were always waiting outside his location waiting to get their hands on Chicago’s best pizza.  Every pizza is made from scratch with the best ingredients around making their pizza the best quality around.
Why Is It So Good!?
Lou Malnati’s pizza is homemade from scratch.  Every year, the company sends a team out to collect California vine-ripened tomatoes.  It is said that their pizza has the perfect sweet and tangy taste and I would definitely have to agree.  The meat used in the za is seasoned to exact specifications and the mozzarella cheese has been the same cheese from the same small dairy for over 40 years!  Most importantly, the family recipe has been passed down from generation to generation to ensure the best flaky, buttery crust that is known all around town.
My First Experience
I will never forget my first time at Lou Malnati’s.  It was about 10 years ago when my family was in Chicago for a show. There was a pretty decent wait for a table because the spot is so popular.  When we got inside, the vibe was phenomenal.  The lighting was bright, the decorations were sick (a bunch of jerseys) and the customers and employees were all cheesin’ enjoying their time!  It is the perfect setting for anyone.   Anyways, their deep dish pizza will leave you thinking about it for days.  I tried the regular cheese deep dish and pepperoni deep dish pizza which were both unforgettable.  The perfect balance of tomatoes and cheese was mind boggling.  It seemed that every slice was made with the perfect balance.  The best part of it was honestly the crust.  It was literally the most perfect crust I have ever had.  The crust held everything into place but broke apart smoothly when taking a bite.  It was hands down the greatest pizza I have ever had!

Garrett’s Popcorn
Garrett’s first opened up at 10 West Madison Street in Chicago in 1949.  This company has been known to have the best reputation in town since it first opened.  Garrett’s Popcorn has pledged to maintain their dedication to fresh, delicious popcorn since they first opened.  All of their popcorn is handcrafted in old-fashioned copper kettles.  They only use the highest quality ingredients from local suppliers to allow that consistent, regional taste.  It is important to note that they still follow their hometown values to give them their famous, global taste.
Why Is It So Good!?
Garrett’s Popcorn is the most delicious popcorn around because of the process of how it is made.  The company hot air pops their signature blend of kernels.  These kernels are introduced and mixed into the secret family recipes that have been around for decades.  No matter what flavor of popcorn they are making, it will always have an irresistible snacking sensation.  The company pledges to produce the best quality popcorn to serve to their customers.  They also listen to their customers and create new products to satisfy their needs.  In fact, Garrett’s Popcorn fans requested a new flavor that was a mixture of sweet and salty.   The company took in their request and actually created the most popular style popcorn they currently have today. My First Experience
My first experience with Garrett’s Popcorn was insane.  I grew up in a house that always had homemade popcorn so I was pretty picky on certain kinds.  Popcorn is a serious art and I can tell which ones are good and which ones are bad.  I will tell you right now that Garrett’s Popcorn was the best popcorn I have ever had. (Besides my Momma’s homemade popcorn) My mouth literally salivated everywhere the second I tried their caramel flavor.  I am telling you, this popcorn will change your life.  I had to go back and purchase many more bags of popcorn because of how much I enjoyed it the first time.  I would recommend trying every flavor because none of them have ever disappointed me.  I will say that my favorite of all time is the caramel flavor and then next is their Garrett’s Mix.


Now that you have a few new foods to try, you need to get out there and go after them!  One thing that I forgot to mention was that anyone can order these foods online and get them shipped to your house!  Lou Malnati offers frozen pizza that can be shipped anywhere and so does Garrett’s Popcorn with popcorn.  Now there is literally no excuse for why you haven’t tried either of these incredible, reputable, Chicago foods.
