The Reasons
Why Chicago is My Favorite City of All Time
&
Why I Want YOU to Visit It!
As I am sure that you have figured out by now that Chicago is my favorite city in the world. In fact, Chicago is my favorite place in the world. Some of you probably have been wondering why Chicago at the top of my list and it always has been and it always will. Luckily enough for you, I am about to inform you why Chicago peaks the list of my favorite places.
First of all, I was born in Chicago and my first home was in Wicker Park. My parents have been in the Chicago land area almost their whole lives so they are conditioned by the culture and see the city for what it really is-amazing. On top of this, my parents, Therese and Donald Schmidt, own a storefront right on Lake St. and has been operating for over 75 years! It is incredible to think that my family business has actually survived into its fourth generation of employees which is my brother and I. Something like less than 1% of family businesses make it to the fourth generation! But anyways, it is pretty evident that my parents obviously taught my siblings and me the Chicago way growing up. Ever since I was a child, I use to go downtown and work at the family business right there in the Loop of Chicago. I remember going down excitingly thinking to myself that this is the greatest place of all time. Has been my thought as a kid and still is now as an adult.
Anyways, my whole family has been exposed to the Chicago culture since we were born! On top of this, I truly enjoy taking strolls through the city as well. There are so many undiscovered hangout spots that are fluttered all over. These places range from city parks, small forests, hidden cafĂ© gems, and much more. I mentioned in a previous post that you need a certain amount of time while visiting Chicago to do everything, but honestly, no time is enough time to explore the Windy City. People who have been living in the city for over twenty years still haven’t explored every component. There is just literally too much stuff to do and too many sites to see meaning that your trip to Chicago can be a different one every time if you intend on that. I have never been bored in Chicago if I am being honest. Something about just walking down the street and seeing all of the pedestrians and buildings puts me into a great mood. There are millions of people who all have some sort of story waiting to be shared with the world. It’s quite exciting if you think about it. There is always a surplus of concerts, sporting events, city events, etc… that are just waiting for you to attend.
The reason why I want you to visit Chicago is because I know it will fill in a certain part of you that has been missing your entire life. I know that it will bring upon a contagious smile and tons of curiosity. How can you miss out on such a great experience? Visiting Chicago will change your life and you will forever be touched by its culture in which you will bring home to your town and share your experiences with your loved ones. I just don’t want you to be that person that can’t join in on a conversation about how magnificent Chicago is because you have never been!
DO NOT BE THAT PERSON!!
A huge reason you need to check out Chicago is that you will never experience anything like it. If you think about it, every large city is different and every large city offers different experiences. With Chicago, you are entering present-history. I mean that you are in one of the most known cities in the world that has a wide variety of museums to check out. You can literally be a part of history while learning about history. Possible museums one can go to in Chicago include the Planetarium, the Shedaquarium, the Art Museum or even the Field Museum. If you aren’t into these types of experiences, that’s okay because there are still plenty of other excellent things to do. You can go to any of the numerous beaches the city has to offer. Nothing better than sitting and relaxing in some sand and water while the sun is steaming down. If that’s not your thing than cool there’s plenty more! You could go to any of the various famous parks such as Millennium Park or Navy Pier. Both are places that everyone needs to see at least once in their lifetime. You could go shopping on the Magnificent Mile which is Michigan Avenue and even shop on State Street which is a nine-story structure! Anyways, you get the point. There are endless amounts of things to experience in this beautiful city so don’t miss out.
Overall, I truly just feel that Chicago has a part of me and it always will. I will forever consider Chicago to be my home even if I am in a different continent. Throughout all of the experiences I have had in this awesome city, I can honestly say that none of them have been negative. The way that Chicago has impacted my life is unspeakable. I just want every to have the opportunity to check it out and experience that beautiful moments that I have had. It’s all about sharing experiences and being able to hold onto memories that will be implanted in us forever. I would be incredibly bummed out if someone doesn’t take advantage of checking out Chicago-especially those of you who live in Illinois. Take the train if needed because that is part of the true Chicago trip. Take a plane to Chicago, or a bus, or even drive, just get there somehow and enjoy the views. I can guarantee that your Chicago visit will be something that you hold onto forever and something that you won’t want to miss out on.
